Ashley Young is a professional football player who currently plays for the Premier League champions Manchester United and the England national team as a winger. Although he was born and raised in the Hertfordshire region of England, Young’s father is from Grenada and he was qualified to play for the Grenada national football team was well but chose to represent his motherland in international level.

Young started his professional career at Watford Football Club, where he played between 2000 and 2003 as a youth team player before being handed his senior team debut. He first came to the attention of the English media when he helped Watford secure promotion to the Premier League and during the club’s sole season in the top flight, was one of the club’s standout performers. This brought Ashley Young to the attention of several Premier League clubs and he was quickly snapped by Aston Villa in 2007.

He spent four seasons at Villa Park and was the main reason why the club finished in the top half of the table for two consecutive seasons. He was even named the Player of the Season at the club and was one of the players named in the PFA Team of the Year. His performances led the bigger clubs in England to fight for his signature with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United involved in a transfer tug of war for the player before he decided to move to Old Trafford in 2011.

Ashley Young suffered heartbreak in his first season at the club as Manchester United lost the Premier League title to Manchester City on the final day of the season on goal difference but earned a winner’s medal in the following season as the Red Devils ran out comfortable winners by a whopping points’ margin in 2013, and has now been immortalised on a man united canvas.
