Ashley Young completed a move to his boyhood club, Watford, after a successful spell with Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A but recent reports have revealed that Watford were not the only side that were trying to sign him this summer. Young was signed by Manchester United from Watford a long time ago and even though he was signed as a winger, he was converted to a right-back as there was too much competition for places in the attacking department of the Red Devils squad at the time under their former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Following his move to Old Trafford, Young had to pick between maintaining his winger identity and sitting on the substitute’s bench or being transformed to a defender and playing regular football. He picked the second option and that was how he managed to last for a long time at Manchester United. However, his time was beginning to get over after the Red Devils appointed Olé Gunnar Solksjær as their new manager following the sacking of the previous boss José Mourinho.
