Ashley Young Brushes Aside Transfer Rumours To Concentrate on Manchester United

Ashley Young says that he is not concentrating on his future plans right now.

The winger was heavily linked with an exit from Manchester United during the January transfer window. It is believed that he received several offers from Chinese football in order to make the switch. He would have been able to get a three-year contract from the Chinese clubs and it was reportedly worth around £ 15 million. Even though he is similar wage per season at United, the Red Devils may not keep him around for long. José Mourinho has used the former Aston Villa midfielder sparingly, as the club are extremely strong in the midfield positions.

Yet, the decision to stay at United may be rewarded quite handsomely since the club have been able to make their presence in three major competitions. After having already won the League Cup, United have been able to reach the semifinals of the Europa League.

They are also looking to qualify for the top four of the Premier League. Young was reportedly convinced to stay at Old Trafford in January as a result of dwindling in strength across the bench. Since then, he has been rewarded with the captain’s armband in some crucial matches. An incredible eight of the 13 league starts made by the player have come in the last few weeks.

“There was of course, and there is always, speculation and especially when there is a transfer window and you are not playing. But I have always said that I want to play as much as possible. What the future holds I am not too sure. I am just concentrating on each game and when the manager calls on me I will give 100 per cent and look to play as well as I can,” said Young when asked about his future.
