Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has claimed that Romelu Lukaku has the potential to improve a lot more from his current standards. Even though Juventus were in a transitional period, few expected Inter Milan to come up with the title challenge as they have done this season. Even though Conte was not able to lead Inter to title success this season, the club have come very close to winning a lot of admirers. One reason for Inter’s positive campaign would be the goals from Romelu Lukaku, who has been a hit since arriving from Manchester United.
Lukaku raised a few eyebrows when he sealed a move to Inter Milan for around €80 million. However, his signing has been very effective for the Italian outfit. Lukaku has been able to get 23 goals in just 34 league matches. Even though he is behind the likes of Ciro Immobile and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have scored in the 30s, the contribution from Lukaku is very impressive considering that this is his first season at the club. After having been used to the physical style of the English Premier league, Lukaku is undergoing a massive transformation in terms of style of play. Even with the goals he has scored so far, Conte feels that there is still more to come from the sticker.
Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi has praised manager Antonio Conte for the way he brings out the best in the players. Sensi started his career with Cesena before moving on to Sassuolo in 2016. After failing to break into the first team at these clubs, the midfielder made headlines by securing a loan move to Inter Milan in 2019. Conte’s team have been able to put up a fight for the domestic campaign in recent weeks. He has been able to bring a winning mentality that has been absent from Inter Milan for quite a while.
Sensi has been brought on a loan deal, but Inter have the option of making his move permanent for €25 million. The latest praise of the manager is a confident sign thatSensi is happy to play for Antonio Conte and that a move could be made permanent in the next few weeks. Inter only have two games left in the domestic campaign before they take on Getafe in the Europa League. The club have failed to dispossess Juve from the top of the table, but they are still every opportunity to finish in the second place. Inter are facing stiff competition from Atalanta and Lazio, who are just one point behind.
With the summer transfer window approaching the speculations around the transfers have increased. As per the report of the Italian newspaper,Corriere Dello Sport Inter is looking forward to extending the contract of Ashley Young and Antonio Candreva. The club is trying to strengthen their defence and they have been looking for fullbacks to bring over in transfer window. Besides the players in the team, they are looking forward to signing Chelsea player Emerson Palmieri.
Inter is not happy with the performance of Fiorentina loan player Cristiano Biraghi and Chelsea loan player Victor Moses and their future at the club remains uncertain.
Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that the club have taken the option to extend the contract of Ashley Young for another 12 months. The England international made the move to the Nerazzurri from Manchester United on a six-month deal in January with the option for another year, should he impress.
Young has certainly done so during his eight appearances for the Nerazzurri, where he has registered one goal and one assist and Ausilio has now confirmed that he will stay put with the club for the 2020/21 campaign. Meanwhile, the Italian admitted that the club will prolong the stay of United loanee Alexis Sanchez until the end of the campaign.
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has spoken about what are the differences in captaincy between former captain Ashley Young and reigning captain Harry Maguire. After the departure of Young to Inter Milan back in January, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to give Maguire the captaincy. After struggling for consistency in the first half of the campaign, United showed a lot of improvement after January. The club were even in the bottom half of the table at one point in the campaign, but they have been able to go through a remarkable 11 game unbeaten run that has put them within touching distance of Chelsea in the fourth place.
Shaw claims that Maguire had a positive influence on the squad in such a way that he has brought them together in the times of difficulties. Young was more of a captain who gained the armband as a senior member of the squad and someone who had been at United for a long time. Despite coming into the club only recently, Maguire has been able to make himself stand out from the crowd with some brilliant performances. All these have earned him a great respect amongst his peers, which have helped him captain the squad. However, Luke Shaw also said that Young tried his best to make sure that United got the best results.
Inter Milan defender Ashley Young is likely to stay with the Italian club even for the next campaign. The 35-year-old made the switch to the Italian outfit back in January and he was just looking to get a place in his new team before the coronavirus pandemic the season to a halt.Even though he has spent only a couple of weeks playing under Antonio Conte,Young seems to have impressed the manager sufficiently in such a way that a contract extension may be on the way.
Inter and all other football clubs are in doubt about the future owing to the season being suspended in the middle. Furthermore, there is expected to be a lot of disruption to the football’s financial world since many TV companies will be asking for a refund from the TV money. This is expected to lower the financial income for clubs and teams may be forced to retain the current options before the world starts to recover. Even though Young was signed only in January, he was expected to be a stopgap for the Italian outfit before they bring in Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso from Chelsea. Both have been dissatisfied with life at Stamford Bridge and they are keen for a move.
Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario has spoken about the ambition of playing in the Spanish La Liga. The Portugal international is currently on loan with Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow after being deemed surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte, who took charge at the Nerazzurri last summer.
In a Q & A session on Instagram, Mario revealed that he has the ambition of playing in La Liga and believes the style would suit him, he told: “Apart from the ones I have played in, I think the Spanish La Liga would be perfect for my style and I’m sure I would have a lot of fun in a championship where good football is played. Perhaps you could say it’s a dream of mine that is not yet a reality. Day after day I try to improve my finishing, it is very important in modern football. It takes hard work, I know, but I will try to improve little by little and now I am taking great care. In recent years I have felt more and more confident.”
Inter Milan defender Ashley Young has admitted that it was an incredible feeling to win the Milan derby over the weekend. The Nerazzurri were trailing by a 2-0 scoreline at the break but they managed to make a terrific second half comeback with four goals to jump to the top of the Serie A on goal difference.
Speaking to reporters, Young was delighted with the comeback triumph in the derby and said that the experience was unbelievable, he told: “I think it was an incredible feeling. You could see the way we celebrated after the game showed the character and strength we’ve got. To go 2-0 down in a derby like that then come back and win, that shows our character. It was an unbelievable experience.”
Manchester United favourite Dimitar Berbatov believes the Red Devils should avoid the signing of Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg, given they have sufficient options for the centre-forward role. The Red Devils have experienced a mixed campaign by their standards but their front displays have been consistent with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood in the goals.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Berbatov acknowledged that Haaland has the talent to develop into a top-class footballer but the Red Devils don’t necessarily need another striker in their ranks. He added that Martial and Rashford have shown plenty of promise this term and the club should look to groom them into world class players rather than purchasing another player from the transfer market.
Manchester United captain Ashley Young has praised Marcus Rashford as a world-class talent and believes the forward’s style of play can frighten the opposition. The England international has been the standout performer for the Red Devils this term and he has already amassed 12 goals from just 20 appearances this term.
Rashford has only managed 13 goals during each of his past two seasons for the Red Devils but he appears on course to break that tally with more than half of the campaign remaining. Speaking to Sky Sports, Young was full of praise for his compatriot and said that there is plenty to come from the versatile forward, who he deems as a world-class player.
