Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has insisted that the club will come up with a renewed energy for the forthcoming campaign. The Red Devils had a forgettable 2018/19 season where they finished sixth on the league standings while witnessing their arch-rivals Manchester City and Liverpool win the Premier League and Champions League titles respectively.

As such, the season was somewhat of an embarrassment for the Red Devils and Shaw suggests that the club will come up with an improvement next term, he said: “I think that’s why we’ve all come back again with a different mindset and of course we had that break to clear our minds, but now we’re all focused on getting United back to where they belong.It will be a new United this season, especially with the new ideas the manager is bringing in. The manager said last season what he wanted from us and he wanted to work us hard and get his ideas in.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought a positive feel around the club at the mid-stage of the previous campaign where he replaced Jose Mourinho on an interim basis. He was thereafter handed with the permanent deal after witnessing the club’s uptrend in form, although that surprisingly coincided with another dip in terms of the performances.

Owing to this, the club missed out on the top four during the final few games of the season and that has meant that they won’t be participating in the Champions League next term. Meanwhile, Shaw has witnessed a resurgence over the past 12 months where he has made the left-position his own without much competition.

The England international had found himself deemed to be unfit under Mourinho, but he has gone through several fitness drills to get himself into shape. The same has enhanced his performances on the field and he was named the club’s Player of the Year last season.
