Ashley Young didn’t make the squad for the Chelsea game and he could not do anything as a result as his Villa side were beaten 3-1 at home by the West Londoners. Villa took the lead but they went on to concede three goals and lose the game.

Aston Villa were the better side in the first half hour of the game and they went ahead in fortunate circumstances when Reece James put through his own netto give the home team the lead as he diverted the cross from Villa left-back Matt Targett into the net. Villa were closing on an half-time lead when right-back Matty Cash  brought down Callum Hudson-Odoi in the box and Italian international Jorginho found the back of the net with the resulting penalty.

The penalty conceded by Cash ensured that Aston Villa and Chelsea went into the break on level terms. At restart, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel brought on star striker RomeluLukaku and he was the difference maker for the Blues. Lukaku scored the second Chelsea goal on 56 minutes before he was fouled in the Villa box by EzriKonsain the final moments of the game. Italian international Jorginho tucked away the rebound to seal a 3-1 away win for Chelsea.

The introduction of Belgian strikerLukaku was the major turning point for Chelsea during the game as the Blues recorded victory against a stubborn Villa side who were without manager Steven Gerrard on the sidelines due to Covid-19.
