Veteran Aston Villa fullback Ashley Young was a substitute during the second half of the Premier League clash with relegation-threatened Watford at the end of last week. The ex-Manchester United and Inter Milan player came on as a 65th minute substitute for Poland international Matty Cash against former club Watford in the league game which ended in a 1-0 win for the Hornets.
Since his return to Villa Park, Ashley Young has made 15 appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions. 14 of the 15 games have been in the league with the other appearance coming in the Carabao Cup.
Ashley Young came on against the Hornets for his 14th Premier League appearance of the season, but he could not save his team from losing 1-0 at home to Watford. Nigerian attacker Emmanuel Dennis scored the only goal of the game on 78 minutes as the Hornets did the double over Villa for only the second time in the Premier League era with the first double coming in the 2015/16 season.
With the result against Watford, Aston Villa are winless in three Premier League matches. The Steven Gerrard-led Villa side have one win in their last eight games in all competitions.
