England manager Gareth Southgate has praised Manchester United defender Luke Shaw after he was drafted into the squad for the forthcoming set of internationals. The Red Devils left-back failed to make the Three Lions squad for the summer World Cup after an average 2017/18 season but he has since impressed in the United colours to earn a comeback.

Speaking to reporters, Southgate admitted that the Englishman had gone through a difficult period with injuries but he has been picked after making a strong start to the current campaign, he said: “He has had a difficult period in terms of adapting to a new club. A horrendous injury he had to overcome. I’m really impressed with the physical condition that he is in.He had an extra edge to his game in the last couple of matches I’ve seen. He’s shown an aggression to his play, a desire not to lose. Back to his powerful best.”
